How can someone be catholic and be a liberal/democrat?

We make free choices...no matter what religion or denomination we are. All of us have that right here in america. (supposedly) Me? I am personally against abortion & I chose to keep my baby at age 16 because I already pictured the baby as it truly was - a human baby! BUT, on the other hand - I do not look down on anyone who is gay! It is none of my business. Nobody has a right to judge others. Then again, I certainly do NOT agree with euthanasia & I take care of my own elderly parents. I am neither liberal & democrat or republican & right wing...I am just me. I am in the process of being confirmed in the Catholic Church but that does not mean I am right about everything I have learned. And, I still love my wonderful protestant brothers & sisters. So, I guess I am an example of how a catholic can have their own identity according to our own convictions...
