Has anyone ever survived a skydiving fall when their parachute didn't deploy?

yeah, there was that one dude that was caught on tape. He jumped out of a plane with his buddy and his chute didn't open. He thought he was dead, so as he fell he waved goodbye to the camera. Lucky for him he fell in a mive patch of blackberry bushes and managed to survive...just barely though.
