Cleaning the disk from popping sound and to speed up? Please help! I used to have a normal working comp. Now..?

Now, after 5 min. of waiting for desktop to upload I have a popping sound. Then, when clicking links to new pages or tabs, it does not respond for 30 sec. to 4 min. or more. (I hear the clicking sound with that much delay and then it takes still more time to upload). Sometimes, I am waiting forever for a page to open and I do not have sand-hour- gl or I am on a page and I am waiting forever for the finger for clicking to appear. Sometimes I see different error messages about memory or Visual C++ Runtime Library and computer shuts off internet explorer. Sometimes I have also message that virtual memory is too low and the computer expands it, and again after clicking “Yes” it shuts down the explorer. It also freezes at times and I need to reset. I was using the internet for 2 weeks without an antivirus; is it a virus (although my present antivirus does not pick up any), or when installing the antivirus remotely a technician messed something with my settings? Please help me – it is so irritating that I am at the end of my rope. What should I do and can I resolve my problem by remote access. Thank you very much and have a Happy New Year.
