Is being vain the same thing as narcissism?

Like i know its not a good trait but im a little to concerned about how i look and always try to make myself look as attractive as possible (nice clothes,great hair style, workout a lot ect...) if anyone has seen american psycho (if i had as much money as that guy i would do the same type of thing) but i don't think im the hottest thing on the planet or show any of the other narcissistic traits....im just concerned with my appearance....im only 19 so is it really a bad thing??
